History

Born in the forests of the Skatay Range, the future Shinto Hagane was a member of the Veena clan in his youth. When he reached the age of 13, the matriarchal society was able to determine that he was a male and sent him to learn the ways of the Wood-Warder. The training required was brutal and there were many days that he felt that he couldn't stand it anymore. This led to one fateful day when he had made up his mind: he was to run away from the clan and go to the city. He knew that this move would exile him, but he couldn't take the pressure of the Wood-Warder's life and hoped to forge his path outside the forests.
A now nameless Viera, he began to explore this new world seeking what he would aspire to achieve. This new lifestyle wasn't easy to adjust to, however, and there were many days when he felt lost and didn't know how to move on. One day, though, he came across a name that inspired his journey. "Shinto": Shin represents "heart, mind, soul" and To represents "to climb/to rise". With this new first name, he aspired to keep going and be his best self, assuring that he kept true to himself at all times. With a new surname of "Hagane", which translates as "steel" to mark his firm resolve, he began to move forward in his story.
During his travels, he has been from city to city but has never found one that he has considered to be home. Many times he has found himself no longer able to live somewhere, due to his own mistakes or external circumstances. At times, he thought himself cursed, that his fate was to begrudgingly return to the Skatay Range as an exiled failure. Setting a goal of the age of 70, he claimed that he would return to the forest if he had not found his home by then.
On a stop in Kugane during one of his many moves, he was met by a kind Miqo'te who offered him a bed to sleep in while he was waiting for a boat. After a sentimental conversation between the two about cowardice and wanting to find a home, the Miqo'te gave him a small handkerchief, a reminder of their emotional encounter for the future.
Now, he has found himself in Eorzea and things have been positive for him. Meeting a group who welcomed him in with open arms and enjoying the social life that the club scene has to offer, it may be that Shinto has found his home just in time.
